PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) microneedling—commonly known as a vampire facial—pairs medical microneedling with your body’s own concentrated platelets. PRP is rich in growth factors that support natural collagen production, helping improve texture, fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, and overall radiance without surgery or fillers.
How PRP Works
When blood is placed into a centrifuge, it separates into three distinct layers: plasma on top, platelets and blood cells in the middle, and red blood cells at the bottom.
Plasma is the liquid portion of your blood. Platelets are cells within your blood that help your blood clot to prevent bleeding, but they also release growth factors and signaling proteins that tell your body to start repairing, producing collagen, and forming new blood vessels.
A healthcare provider will collect PRP by drawing your blood and putting it through a centrifuge. This is a machine that spins your blood at high speeds separating your blood into different components:
-
Red Blood Cells (RBCs): Carry oxygen to tissues.
-
White Blood Cells (WBCs): Help fight infections.
-
Plasma: The liquid portion of blood, mostly water, proteins, and nutrients.
-
Platelets: Tiny cell fragments that help with clotting and wound healing.
Once your blood finishes spinning in the centrifuge, your provider will remove the platelet-rich plasma component to be injected into your face.
Step-by-Step: What to Expect
-
Consult & photos: Discuss goals, review your skin, and outline a plan.
-
Cleanse & numb : A topical anesthetic improves comfort.
-
Blood draw : We spin your sample to concentrate platelets into PRP.
-
Microneedling: A sterile device creates precise micro-channels across the treatment area.
-
PRP application: PRP is layered over the skin to soak into channels; in select cases, tiny PRP injections may target under-eyes or etched lines.
-
Finish & protect: We apply soothing serum and SPF, then review aftercare.
